Licensing is a contract to gain rights at a patent from a license owner to a licensee. A lot of independent inventors seek a license with a large corporation – they have an idea that they’d like the company to adopt and start selling it. In order to do that, they need a license agreement. A grant clause grants the license of the intellectual property from the licensor (the inventor) to the licensee (the company).
